Number 1 is still PewDiePie, with 108 million subscribers. His name is Felix Kjellberg and he’s a Swede living in the United Kingdom. 


PewDiePie is known for popular videos where he broadcasts a running commentary as he plays video games. 


And people love watching him play. His coverage has expanded into commentary and coverage of popular internet memes and viral videos. In 2019, he made $13 million.


Coming in second place is the “Kids Diana Show,” featuring Russian-speaking Diana and her brother Roma as they unbox toys and go on fantastic adventures. 

They have 73.2 million subscribers who love watching them open their packages. 


Third is another children’s series: Like Nastya. This one features Russian-American Stacy who plays with toys and goes on adventures with her family. Stacy has 67.9 million followers.


Vlad and Niki, with 61.5 million subscribers, are in fourth place with their videos showing the brothers playing with toys and showing off their daily adventures. 


And the fifth most popular influencers for 2021 are “Dude Perfect,” five American guys who perform trick sports shots and feature famous athletes playing along with them. 


They’ve expanded into comedy recently, and the crew is often joined by their giant panda mascot. Their viewers love watching them set up their trick shots and perform with other athletes.


Other successful influencers include MrBeast, aka Jimmy Donaldson, who is known for two types of videos: viral challenges (like counting to 100,000 in one video) and attention-grabbing charity stunts (like donating thousands of dollars to small Twitch players or waitresses). 


And then there’s Smosh, a comedy troop who performs skits and comedy series spinoffs, and Kimberly Loaiza, one of Mexico’s most popular social media stars who features videos on lifestyle and music.


The success of video creators like these has shifted the way traditional marketing works, as well as the ways that companies can reach their customers through social media. 

There’s a lot of money in the marketing industry, especially with influencer marketing. 


But how can you break into the industry and start making money yourself?

Becoming an Influencer

Becoming a YouTube influencer is not going to be a simple journey, but just as you’ve seen in the previous chapter, there are many people who have carved out a lucrative income by doing it, and so can you—it’ll just take perseverance and determination.


Start by creating a plan of action. 

This is where you’ll lay out exactly what you’re hoping to get out of building a YouTube presence. So, focus on your objectives and overall goals.


This is going to help you figure out what sort of video content you should create, and help to determine who your target audience is.


What you’re looking for is clear direction and intent so you can lay down a strong foundation for your business. And that’s exactly what becoming a YouTube influencer involves: building a targeted, flexible and rock-solid business. 


Here are some steps you can take to get your YouTube influencer career off the ground:


Step 1: Create a YouTube account and channel. 


This is an obvious first step, but you’d be surprised how many people leave this until last. 


It’s wise to start with this so that you can begin to visualize your channel’s overall brand, including your design as well as the type of graphics and thumbnails you’ll use, and of course, your content. 


Set up an account and a channel name that is easy to remember and that reflects what you’re doing.  


Use keywords that tell people exactly what your channel is about, or follow in the footsteps of influencers such as Marques Brownlee, who uses his initials plus the abbreviation for high definition to create his channel name: MKBHD.


It’s short handle that’s instantly recognizable across all his platforms and memorable, which is key. 


Step 2: Choose Your Niche.


Next, you want to develop your channel’s goals and content which starts by defining your target audience and niche. 


This isn’t always an easy task, especially if you are thinking about catering to multiple markets. 


Step 3: Define Your Voice

Defining the voice of your brand and your channel is one of the most important things you’ll do, and it’s always best to start once you’ve nailed down who your average subscriber will be. 


Many influencers have said that in order to figure out who their market is, they created what is called a subscriber snapshot, which includes example demographic information.


This would include gender, age, location, interests, passions, employment, hobbies of those who would likely be interested in your content.


Step 4: Create Engaging Content.

Once you’re comfortable in front of the camera, it’s time to decide what sort of content you’ll create, or broadcast. 

Some popular content styles include: how-to videos, product reviews, unboxing videos, and of course, gaming and makeup tutorials. 


Step 5: Create your videos. 

Often, what sets one influencer apart from the crowd is the quality of their videos. They’re not just putting out a lot of content—it’s good content.

Alright. So this is Video #1 which is the introduction. And what I want to do now is give you a quick overview of what’s inside this video course So welcome back to Video #2, which is Platform Comparisons. And the reason why this is so important is because the problem and the reason why most people fail at specific social platforms is they enter that platform thinking that they can use what they do on Facebook on Instagram, or what they do on YouTube on Instagram. But the reality is that you are entering a totally different culture, so imagine entering a totally different culture and trying to do something that works in a different culture. That’s not going to work, right? So you need to know the differences and you need to make sure that you are in the right mindset before you actually move in. So did you know that there is a big difference between Facebook, YouTube andInstagram? Well let’s talk about that. So knowing how they behave, how users behave, how they expect you to behave and their expectations of you are important, alright? So that increases your sales, yoursuccess rate on all that. So this is where it's easy to fail as often, you know, we enter a specific culture like I said that has certainexpectations and not following these rules just gets you avoided or seen as a spammer. So you do not want to be seen as a spammer or be seen as an outsider, you want to be seen like you are part of theculture, alright? So that’s what I am trying to get at here. So let’s talk about the differences. YouTube -- people go here to learn how to do something, so you got a lot of DIY's or people who like to do things themselves. Like say for example you break something on your wall, you need to learn how to patch it up, you go on YouTube, you learn how to do things. Plus,people go there to kind of distress, they like to watch entertaining videos, they like to watch, you know,people singing or people dancing or learn how to do something basically. So that’s what YouTube is, you can’t really take that same concept and bring it over to Instagram because it’s totally different, right? Facebook. Facebook is a great place for people to see what’s happening, to discover what is happening in the world, what their friends are doing, what people that have similar interest are doing, they can join groups and all of that. So it’s all about discovery, alright, so many different ways of discovery. Now Instagram on the other hand is where people come here to get inspiration, to get ideas, so they might have discovered something on Facebook but they want to get more ideas about it from Instagram. So if you’ve noticed, Instagram is a platform with a lot of beautiful esthetically pleasing images. So that’s another thing you want to make sure, that you have really esthetically pleasing images. So if you are not a person that create really good images you are going to need to have a program to do that. And we will talk more about that later on, you can use these programs to create beautiful looking quotes, beautiful looking images and all that, but that’s something to keep in mind. But people come here to get ideas,they tend to follow brands, they want to know more about the brand, right, they want to follow their favorite celebrities, they want to follow the lifestyles, they want to see what’s happening. So I will give you some examples and concrete situations that you can actually get a better idea of howall of this works, but really what I am trying to set you up for is success, and set you up for the right mindset, so that you move in and you are able to close more sales, close more leads, generate more followers and fans, and that’s the whole goal at the end of the day. Now Instagram and Facebook have very different audiences. Now you will notice now that Facebook has bought out Instagram, but they still have very, totally different audiences, something that works on Facebook may not work on Instagram. So just keep that in mind, different platforms, even though if something works there doesn’t necessarily mean it’s going to work on Instagram. Aso you know exactly what to expect ahead of time, and that just gives you an idea of all the pieces of the puzzle and how they fit together, and implementation will be a lot faster.Alright. So Video #1 is this particular video, as I said. Video #2 is Platform Comparison, so we are going to take a look at YouTube, Facebook and Instagram and the reason why is because we want to get an ideaof the atmosphere and the environment and the behaviors so that when you enter Instagram you do it correctly. Video #3, we are going to talk about Starting On The Right Foot. Video #4, we are going to talk about How To Build A Brand or a Lifestyle, and this is key specifically and especially for Instagram, and you will see in just a minute. Video #5 is What Creates Inspiration, and that will make more sense in just a minute. Video #6, we are going to talk about You Get One URL, and with Instagram profiles you can’t really put the link in all of your posts like Facebook, it’s just one URL. So how do you make money with that, and we will talk more about that in the later video. So Video #7, we are going to talk about how to sell on Instagram. Video #8, we are going to talk about Sponsored Posts and how do you can make money with that as you grow and how you can use that to actually build your Instagram profile literally overnight.So now what I want to do is talk about mindset, because having the right mindset in going into this is so important. And the reason why is because a lot of times as sellers, product owners or service owners or whatever -- business owners, you are at the end of the day -- you are trying to sell your product, right? Shopify store, affiliate store or whatever. But instead of focusing on selling you want to focus on influencing and creating a brand and creating a lifestyle. That’s what Instagram is all about and how that is different. And we will talk more about the differences in the next video.

But here is what you need to get started, which is pretty self-explanatory. You are going to need, #1, an

Instagram account and of course you will need an idea of what you will be influencing people about,

which indirectly will sell your product and service. But it will make more sense as I go through the course,
